| Lieutenant Gallup began his career in law enforcement by earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Missouri Southern State University and a Master's of Arts in Business and Organizational Security Management from Webster University In St. Louis, Mo. He is also a graduate of the Southern Police Institute 107th Administrative Officer Course held at the University of Louisville in Louisville, Ky. He also holds the position as a P.O.S.T. Certified Instructor in various areas of law enforcement. Sgt. Gallup has spent twelve of his fifteen years in law enforcement with the Joplin Police Department serving as a Patrol Officer, Patrol Sergeant, Detective Corporal and Traffic Sergeant. His current position as the Traffic Sergeant is responsible for supervising and coordinating the duties and operations of the Traffic Division, the RAPID Team, the Reserve Program, Warrant's Officers, School Resource Officers' and the Court Officer. This position is also accountable for the coordination and supervision of all Special Events held within the city of Joplin. This Unit places a strong emphasis on innovative policing activities and strategies in an effort to reduce crime, accidents and other community problems. Prior to his current position, Sgt. Gallup served nine years as a Child Abuse Investigator both as the lead detective and as a member of the Tri State Major Case Squad. He has also served on several State Committees aimed at reducing Family Violence. |
