The Joplin Police Department is divided up into three main divisions; Patrol (or uniform) Division, Investigations, and Technical Services.  Each Division is Commanded by a Lieutenant.  Click below to learn more.

Patrol Division
This division is the most visible part of your agency.  Most of the members of this Division are in a standard uniform and drive a marked police car.  There are 42 sworn officers and 2 civilian staff members in this Division, making it the largest Division in the Police Department and the City.

Investigations
The Investigations Division is made up of 12 Detectives and 2 civilian staff members.   They are responsible for completing criminal investigations after a report is taken by the patrol officer.

Technical Services
Another important, sometimes forgotten, Division of the Police Department is the Technical Services Division.   Most of the members in this Division are civilian.   There are eight clerks, and two sworn officers.  They are responsible for jail functions, records, purchasing, grant monitoring, media relations, and crime analysis.
