The Joplin Police Department is divided up into three main divisions; Patrol
(or uniform) Division, Investigations, and Technical Services. Each
Division is Commanded by a Lieutenant. Click below to learn more.
- Patrol Division
- This division is the most visible part of your agency. Most of the
members of this Division are in a standard uniform and drive a marked police
car. There are 42 sworn officers and 2 civilian staff members in this
Division, making it the largest Division in the Police Department and the
City.

- Investigations
- The Investigations Division is made up of 12 Detectives and 2 civilian
staff members. They are responsible for completing criminal
investigations after a report is taken by the patrol officer.

- Technical
Services
- Another important, sometimes forgotten, Division of the Police Department
is the Technical Services Division. Most of the members in this
Division are civilian. There are eight clerks, and two sworn
officers. They are responsible for jail functions, records,
purchasing, grant monitoring, media relations, and crime analysis.
